Description:

Dahlia Hawthorne had convinced her tutor Terry Fawles to fake a kidnapping for a ransom of a blood diamond owned by her father, valued at $2,000,000. She also managed to coerce her stepsister Valerie Hawthorne into a larger plot meant to betray Fawles and frame him for murder. The plan was set to take place over Dusky Bridge and involve Iris Hawthorne, who lived nearby at Hazakura Temple. Iris never helped, however, and Dahlia considered this to be a grand betrayal.

Dahlia's plot was to jump into Eagle River with the diamond during a staged confrontation between Valerie and Fawles, where Fawles posed as a kidnapper. Valerie would then arrest Fawles for Dahlia's murder and rendezvous with Dahlia some time after.

The plan was successful and Valerie testified against Fawles during his trial, which secured a Guilty verdict. Terry Fawles was sentenced to death row. Valerie prepared a new identity for Dahlia as "Melissa Foster", but when the time came to cash in the diamond Dahlia claimed to have lost it in the river.
