Description:
The first bayonets were simply wooden plugs stuck down the barrels of guns with knives on the end. While this was effective for charging the enemy it plugged the barrel so the weapon could not be fired. Later iterations made the bayonet an attachment to a gun so that it did not plug the barrel.Added to timeline:
