The mayan people were an ancient civilization of people living in Central America who had a fully-developed written language, as well as its art, architecture, mathematical and astronomical systems. The Mayans used a long count calendar. This identified a particular date by counting the number of days from a starting date. This calendar ended on 21st December 2012. Causing lots of people and publicity to stirr up believing the end of the world would come even though there were no record of the Mayans themselves believing that any such event would occur.Added to timeline:
