These photographs caused some alarm when they reached the English language press with many asking if Johnny Depp was not well as they considered him too thin and too pale. Others reference ‘The Professor’ saying Johnny Depp had recently played the part of a dying man - perhaps not realising the film wrapped in August 2017. It is more likely that the weight loss and pale looks were a result of playing Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 2 and evidence from later in 2018 suggests Johnny shaved his own whiskers to allow make-up with supply him with Grindelwald’s blonde moustache.
