Description:
This treaty ended the American Revolution, with the United States winning.
It officially recognized the United States as a country independent from Britain, and laid out the terms of peace, such as setting boundaries of United States' territory on both land and water and agreeing to release prisoners of war, pay off debts, and return property and documents belonging to one country or the other. The treaty was signed by four people: John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, and David Hartley.
