mar 18, 1766 - Repealment of Stamp Act
Description:
The Stamp Act was very quickly repealed (less than a year after it was passed) due to widespread protest against it. Many stamp act collectors had quit or been forced to quit and many colonists refused to comply, likely making it difficult to collect the money anyways.
However, at the same time the Stamp Act was repealed, Parliament enacted the Declaratory Act, which stated that Britain had complete power over the colonies and could create and enforce any taxes it wanted to.
