may 20, 1774 - Coercive Acts

Description:

These were also known as the "Intolerable Acts", they were made to take control over the colonies.

These laws were meant to be a punishment to massachusetts because of the Boston Tea Party.

The laws did the following:
1. Massachusetts's government was under strict control and assemblies could not meet
2. Boston harbor was closed off until the lost tea had been paid off.

Additionally, more British troops were sent over.
