feb 12, 1851 - Gold Rush

Description:

Between 1851 and 1871, the population in Australia quadrupled from around 430,000 to 1.7 million, as people from all over the world came to Australia in search for gold.
Most of the people that came, came from China, and most of them were men.
In 1851, many people from all over the world came to Australia to search for gold. The first discovery of gold was by William Tipple Smith, and the news that there was gold in Australia soon spread across the globe.
The first discovery of gold by William Tipple Smith was in Bathurst, Sydney, which is a neighbouring state of Victoria The most people came from China, but it was very hard for them, as they had to pay more to go to the gold fields. So instead, they walked to the gold site from Adelaide to either Ballarat and Bendigo Creek in Victoria, or Ophir, in NSW.
