aug 1, 1913 - The idea of books being used in schools for the primary mode of instruction is questioned by Thomas Edison.
Description:
In 1913 Thomas Edison stated that "“Books will soon be obsolete in the schools . . . It is possible to teach every branch of human knowledge with the motion picture. Our school system will be completely changed in the next ten years” (Reiser, 2012, p. 18). This proclamation sparked the development of reinventing instruction and how the standard instructional method is developed and used in the education system.
