Description:

Alvares was the first explorer to name Brazil. He was a nobleman. He left to see Portuguese (known as Brazil) on March 9, 1500 and arrived on April 22,1500. He had 13 boats at his side.

On April 22,1500 he singed land claiming it for Portugal use and said it was to be called the Island Of the True Cross.After a while it was renamed Brazil.

Alvares stayed in Brazil for 10 days than lefted to go claim Idian.
