The Greensboro sit-ins were a series of nonviolent protests against racial segregation that began in 1960, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Four African American college students from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Joseph McNeil, Franklin McCain, Ezell Blair Jr. (now Jibreel Khazan), and David Richmond, initiated the sit-ins at a Woolworth's department store lunch counter.
