oct 7, 1763 - Proclamation of 1763
Description:
The Proclamation of 1763 was written by King George III, and established the boundaries and new administrative structure for the recently acquired territories in North America (after the French and Indian War). This proclamation put into place new rules and protocols for future relations with First Nations people.
After the French and Indian War, the colonists were set on expanding their western boundaries into their newly acquired lands. This proclamation stopped that, and the colonists believed that the Parliament wanted to keep them under their thumb - closer to the East.
