Description:

After multiple years of little contact between Earth and Mars, AMI finally announced the renewal of Earth-Mars transport. It would be revealed that in her time with the planet in Lockdown, AMI had been re-engineering the Martian Satellite Swarm to double as an all-encompassing defense network surrounding the entire planet. No ship or projectile could reliably make it through to the Martian surface without AMI and her network explicitly allowing them in.

While this may have been a wise yet radical response to the threat posed by whatever destroyed Venus, it made people back on Earth uneasy. They did not want another untouchable armed entity holding them to ransom as Patrick Bone had done in the "Lunacy" a century prior. But at this point, it seemed the ISA had little choice. Nobody had been harmed, nothing had been damaged, all AMI had done is create a weaponized defensive perimeter around the planet placed in her care.

Some on earth did propose organizing the same sort of defense system around Earth and Luna, but after much deliberation the idea was dismissed due to the risks of another "Lunacy" event.
