jan 1, 2060 - Corporate Lunar Mining Boom

Description:

In 2059 Corporate space agencies began their first Lunar mining operations after the experimental ventures of the M.S.A. the previous year proved definitely profitable. The corporate mining ventures very quickly outpaced the ISA's government funded ventures, and more and more helium 3 and other valuable resources would be exported and sold to earth in the coming years, providing a reliable source of renewable energy that would greatly assist earth's final transition away from fossil fuels.

While at first it was cheaper to exclusively use remotely controlled rovers, more and more corporations would come find that they needed humans on-site for maintenance. These workers would be housed in cheap and temporary accomodations at first, but as the years rolled on the many Lunar outposts would eventually connect to each other through tunnels and/or rail networks, providing the foundation for the establishment of Clavius Base a decade later.
