In preparation for the coming Ares II mission, the I.S.A. developed a series of partially autonomous mining drones to be sent to mars in advance of the human crew of Ares II.The heavy and robust Mars drones were designed from the ground up to be remotely guided by instructions provided by AMI. This was done to decrease human labor hours and also to minimize the risk of slow responses that would occur if the drones were remotely controlled from all the way back at Earth.
