The Yalta Conference meeting of US President Franklin D. Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Sovet Premier Joseph Stalin takes place in a Russian resort town in Crimea. Main attention is deciding the post-war status of Germany. The Allies of WWII divide Germany into four occupation zones. The allied nations agree that free elections are to be held in Poland and all countries occupied by Nazi Germany. In addition, the United Nations are to replace the failed League of Nations.
