Henry Stafford [The duke of Buckingham] proposed that the former deposed king Henry II should return to London and marry the Former King Edward IV eldest daughter Elizabeth of York and take the throne.
the plot failed due to:
- Kent starting the rebellion 10 days early and calling Henry their leader making Richard aware of the rebellion
- A storm forcing Henry II fleet to lose communication and be forced to turn back
Henry Stafford was beheaded at Salisbury,
