Description:
A military unit that many Puerto Rican soldiers occupied is the 65th Infantry Regiment. In this all-volunteer Hispanic military unit, they served to guard the Panama Canal. Their efforts allowed for convenient and cost-efficient transportation of integral commodities. Not only did they defend a major transportation route, but once they were transferred to France, they joined an attack east toward Germany and occupied key areas and crossroads.
