may 19, 1897 - Thomson

Description:

Joseph Thomson was a physicist who discovered the first "electron" in 1897. He was experimenting with a cathode ray when he noticed that it was negatively charged, and was repelled by other negatively charged sources and attracted to anything positively charged.

He created a partially incorrect model called the "Plum Model". It had a chaotic and randomized spread of electrons and protons, as can be seen here: https://www.universetoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/plum-pudding-model.jpg
