jun 1, 496 - Use of Chinese Language Names in Court made Mandatory

Description:

...venerable Chinese Han dynasty standard units of
measure for length and volume were adopted; in 496, the court was obliged to
replace its Xianbei names with Chinese-language names—the imperial Tuoba
surname itself being changed to Yuan 元; and, also in 496, all officials not actively
engaged in military service were required to observe the Confucian standard of
three years of mourning on the death of their father.
