Which must have been what Elon Musk had in mind when he attempted to woo Amber Heard with a Tesla.

The multi-billionaire gifted one of his fancy electric cars to the 31-year-old during a months-long campaign to win her affections, it has been claimed.

A friend of the inventor told Us Weekly: 'Elon has been pursuing Amber... But she wouldn’t go out with him for a long time.'

'She finally gave in,' the insider added. 'He even got her a Tesla!'

The actress only confirmed her relationship with the 45-year-old father of five on Sunday when she posted an Instagram snap of a dinner date between them, featuring a telltale lipstick mark of his cheek.

The couple were first linked last summer, after being spotted together on several occasions both in London and Miami.

Musk reportedly 'became infatuated' with Amber after the two appeared in the 2013 film Machete Kills, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Although the pair did not get a chance to meet on set, he is said to have emailed director Robert Rodriguez repeatedly in the hope that he could set up a meeting between himself and the actress - despite the fact that she was still with Johnny Depp at the time.

Heard and Depp met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2011, were married in 2014 and separated in 2016.

Elon is also recently out of a relationship as he was granted his second divorce from Talulah Riley in November of last year.

It was their second split: they were married for two years before divorcing in 2012.

Musk is worth a reported $14.9 billion according to Forbes.
