jan 1, 1581 - New info found about encient greek music
Description:
melody and tone were found in new documents found in 1581, that revealed two things -
1) while people were confused by the quarter tones often found, there were used as “passing-notes”, and the composition was really tonal.
2) they used word-painting, the imitation of the meaning of words by the shape of the melodic line. For example the word “lament” for example has a falling cadence, and “leaps up” has an upward interval leap.
