Description:

Star Trek: Picard is an American TV series which premiered in 2020, created by Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Kirsten Beyer, and Alex Kurtzman for Paramount+ (then known as CBS All Access). It is the 8th Star Trek series and part of the Star Trek Universe expansion. The series begins in 2399 after the death of Data and the destruction of the planet Romulus, and features the retired Starfleet admiral Jean-Luc Picard (played by Patrick Sewart), who is drawn back into adventure when visited by Data’s apparent daughter of the synths, whose species right he now needs to fight for and save them. Each season explores different aspects of the character in his old age. The episode in question is the 2nd episode of the 1st season - Maps and Legends, in which Picard begins investigating the mystery of Dahj Asha (a female android) as well as what her very existence means to the Federation. The episode begins with reviewing footage of a blast that injured Picard and killed Dahj, and Picard goes to Dahj’s apartment, where her boyfriend Caler was also killed. He and his companion use a device that conducts “molecular reconstruction”, a futuristic forensics technique, and shows them the moments before Caler’s death. However, the reconstruction is terminated moments before the murder happens, and it is suspected that an organization called the Zhat Vash wiped the particle residues - cleared the forensic traces - so that the murder will stay a mystery. Picard fights for their right to exist and gives his life to save them. In the second season he is put into ai and they go to alternate reality and save the universe.
