jan 1, 2020 - #betweenartandquarantine and #tussenkunstenquarantaine

Description:

The J. Paul Getty Museum, commonly referred to as “the Getty”, is an art museum in Los Angeles, California founded in 1974 by the American-British petroleum industrialist J. Paul Getty.
So in 2020, early pandemic, the Getty Museum challenged people to recreate artworks at home with household objects. They got thousands of replies, and the article includes some details and photos of a few (I actually recommend entering the article - link above - it’s pretty entertaining). The challenge was inspired by the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and an Instagram account called Between Art and Quarantine.
The featured works include: A page from a Renaissance manuscript with Lasagna noodles, an early 20th century Scandinavian exterior at a regular home, an ancient statue of a harp player recreated with a vacuum machine (my favorite), Lot and his Daughters, but instead it’s just Some Random Guy and his Daughters, Mantel clock with a porcelain cup and cookies, cosplay of a yawning man with dish towel, a little girl posing as a rosy cheeked laundress, Laughing fool with a giraffe onesie and a Christmas sweater, an impressive recreation of the Astronomer, and more in links.
The article also includes tips on how to recreate the art, using examples of different replies they got (along with the hashtags #betweenartandquarantine and #tussenkunstenquarantaine).
