It was published in 1997 and was the first history-based real-time strategy game ever made.

- The eras depicted in the span of the 9 game include: the Roman Empire, the Middle Ages, early Modern Period. Historical events depicted include: Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire (Middle Ages), Europe colonizing the Americas and the decline of several Asian nations (early Modern Period), Greek and Egyptian civilization including mythology, and some more.

The game itself was quite well-received, though some people found it to be not very historically accurate. Generally, it was one of the game’s goals, but not the main one after all.
