3 days long, was often described as the turning point in the civil war as well as having the largest amount of casualties. Robert E Lee led the south in that battle, he first concentrated his soldiers there in order to keep conquering the north and a man named Meade was the leader of the north. On both the first day and the second days of the battle, both sides suffered tremendous losses. On the third day of the battle (the last one), the south organized an attack using about 12,500 soldiers in order to try to defeat the north, but the north shot and kept their positions and that led to the south retreating.
