jun 23, 1814 - Capture of Montevideo

Description:

After the decisive victory of Buceo, the United Provinces army, commanded by Carlos María de Alvear, entered the city and took it. The fall of Montevideo meant the end of the royalist threat to the Río de la Plata, which had lasted for four years. It also abundantly supplied the United Provinces armies with weapons, clothing and ammunition.
