mar 18, 1911 - Triangle Shirtwaist Fire

Description:

Locked doors and other flagrant violations of standards at this New York City factory led to a fire in 1911, in which 146 people were burned to or jumped to their death from 8th or 9th story windows. Most of the workers were young immigrant women. The event highlighted many of the injustices and social evils that exposed by the muckrakers and served as an important impetus for reform.
