apr 6, 1917 - US enters WWI
Description:
On January 31 of 1917, the German Leaders announced Unrestricted Submarine Warfare in all War Zones. In response, President Wilson broke diplomatic ties with Germany, but would not declare war until Germany took "overt acts" against the US. In the first two weeks of March 1917 German U-boats sank four unarmed American merchant ships, leading Wilson to ask Congress for a Declaration of War, which they gave on April 6, 1917.
