sep 26, 1956 - Hungarian Revolution
Description:
This began as a Hungarian protest against Communist rule in Budapest after the Stalin-like leader, Matyas Rakosi. Khruschev appointed a new, more liberal leader, Imre Nagy.
However Nagy made unacceptable reforms in Khrushchev's mind, that aligned Hungary to a more capitalist-style country. Khruschev sent in 200,000 troops to crush the new government. Nagy was executed and a pro-communist leader, Janos Kadar was put into power.
This was the first large event concerning discontent amongst Communism.
