apr 28, 66 - 2 Timothy
Description:
This is Paul's second letter to Timothy, most likely written during his second imprisonment in Rome. Paul, well-aware that his time will soon come to an end, writes to encourage Timothy not to have a spirit of timidity and to remain unashamed of the gospel of Christ (see 2 Timothy 1:6-8 & 4:6-8). He reminds him to defend the truth against false teachings, especially the cancerous teachings of Hymeneaus and Philetus (who taught a form of Gnosticism) (see 2 Timothy 2:14-26). He also tells Timothy to remain patient under current persecutions (see 2 Timothy 3). He asks Timothy to visit him in Rome, and to bring along John Mark as well. Along the way, he is to stop in Troas and grab his belongings from Carpus, as well as Ephesus to visit Priscilla and Aquilla and Onesiphorus.
