Publishes Theory
of Color Vision
Description:
Multiple w/ Helmholtz
--> Young-Helmholtz Theory
Came to be known (thanks to Helmholtz) as "trichromatic theory" :
-->Demonstrated that mixing various combinations of three colors (R/G/B) together, the resulting color be made to match any other single color.
-->Concluded that the eye must contain three different kinds of color receptors, one for each "primary" colors. Incoming light of particular wavelength was said to stimulate these receptors to different degrees, resulting in perception of a different color
