The Lunohkod programme was a series of robotic missions to the moon by the Soviets, it aimed to conduct scientific investigations using remotely operated rovers. These rovers were the first remote-controlled rovers successfully operating on the lunar surface. It has resulted in advancements in exploration robots through advancements in communication capabilities, movement, scientific instrumentations, long-distance operations and autonomy.
