Nixon's most famous accomplishments made economic ties with China, and his domestic policies, including the EPA, the OSHA, the Clean Air Act, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Act, and the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty with the Soviet Union. Making economic ties with China was a change of pace from past presidents since past presidents had been unwilling to make economic ties with China since they were communists. Nixon's idea was realpolitik, which is a system of politics based on practical rather than moral considerations. The EPA is an environmental protection agency tasked with environmental protection matters. The OSHA was made to examine the workplace. The Clean Air Act aimed to reduce pollution and improve air quality. The Equal Employment Opportunity Act prohibited discrimination in the workplace. Finally, the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty aimed to reduce the risk of nuclear war by limiting the number of anti-ballistic missile systems each country could deploy. Some would say Nixon's presidency was a major success, while others would say it was marked by scandal, due to the Watergate Scandal, where Nixon tried to cover up the break-in of the Democratic National Headquarters.
