jun 5, 1968 - Robert F. Kennedy is Assassinated
Description:
During the 1968 Democratic Party presidential primaries, Robert F. Kennedy who was a senator and the brother of John F. Kennedy, had just won the California and South Dakota primaries. He addressed his supporters in the Ambassador Hotel's Embassy Ballroom in Los Angles. After he gave his speech, he left the podium and exited through the kitchen hallway. When he was in the hallway, Sirhan Bishara Sirhan shot Robert F. Kennedy multiple times, leaving him mortally wounded. He was taken to Central Receiving Hospital where the doctors obtained a good heartbeat. About 30 minutes later he was transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was to undergo surgery. Despite extensive neurosurgery to remove the bullet fragments from his brain, he was pronounced dead at 1:44 A.M. on June 6th, about 25 hours after the shooting. His funeral was held at Saint Patrick's Cathedral, where his casket was viewed by thousands of people. He was later buried at Arlington National Cemetery. If Robert F. Kennedy wasn't assassinated, it would have changed the course of history, and who knows, he could have been a better president than his brother.
