apr 1, 1966 - The Flinstones

Description:

It was originally broadcast on ABC from September 30, 1960, to April 1, 1966, and was the first animated series to hold a prime-time slot on television. The show follows the lives of Fred and Wilma Flintstone and their pet dinosaur Dino, eventually seeing the addition of baby Pebbles. The Flintstones started showing on September 30th, 1960. And was created by William Hannah and Joseph Barbra. The original name was the Flagstones but because of a copyright claim, they had to change the name to the common name we know now. The Flintstones became the first animated program to include one self-contained storyline during the half-hour run time. The show took place in bedrock and was a fantasy-based interpretation of the past; it merged long-extinct animals with cavemen and even with prehistoric versions of modern appliances. The Flintstones was originally intended for the whole family but the ads were deemed inappropriate for kids such as the bumper sense at the end because it promoted the show’s biggest sponsor Winston Cigarettes. The theme songs for seasons one and two were based on Bugs Bunny but season three was based on Beethoven.
