jan 3, 1944 - First programmable electronic computer

Description:

The Colossus was one of the first programmable electronic computers in the history of computing. Built and operated in the United Kingdom during World War II, it was able to decipher codes developed by the Lorenz SZ 40/42 cipher used by the Nazis to protect correspondence between Adolf Hitler and his chiefs of staff, as well as Japanese Purple and Red communications, based on Enigma technology[1]. The British secret services did everything to interpret the codes of the Nazis, but they were changed daily
