apr 1, 1961 - Cuba and the Bay of Pigs Invasion
Description:
In April 1961, the United States backed a anti-communist invasion of Cuba led by Cuban refugees, in an attempt to overthrow President Fidel Castro. Cuba had long been a nation ravaged by fascism and military governments, specifically the Batista Regime. But when the nation spoke up and put revolutionaries like Fidel Castro and Che Guevara in charge, the US retaliated. There have been multiple attempts on Castro's life up until his death in 2016. The photo shows Recruits, "possibly" Cuban refugees lining up for physical examination in Miami, Florida.
