apr 9, 1942 - Bataan Death March

Description:

The Bataan Death March was one of the saddest and most depressing moments of the Entire World War II period. It was caused by the surrender of the United States and Filipino forces after them fighting for many many many days in the Philippines and trying to hold it from the Japanese. The soldiers who fought in this battle were brave even though they knew it was inevitable that they were going to lose. After they lost the Japanese treated them horribly and forced them to march 65 miles in cold and desolate conditions killing thousands of men from the march and many more because of disease after. Even after this, many more died because of the Japanese hostility towards the prisoners of war and how they treated them. Some died because of hostility and bad living conditions, others died of getting hit by United States ships when they were riding on Japanese ships. After the war, you can look back on this event as being thankful to the forces of the Filipinos in the United States for showing their bravery for the Army and you can wish that something this horrible never happens again.
