Description:

Two American U-2 Spy Planes found something disturbing in Cuba. They discovered that the Soviets were doing something sneaky. They were making intermediate-range ballistic missiles. Not only were they doing that, but they were putting them in Cuba! The US freaked out because Cuba is super close to Florida. This made everybody angry and scared because they could destroy or mess up most of the US. This was one part of the Cuban Missile Crisis. During this event, "the United States and the Soviet Union stood on the brink of nuclear war. This crisis began when the Soviet Union sent weapons, including nuclear missiles, to Cuba." This wouldn't have even been a problem if the US hadn't been excluded from the Organization of American States. Castro wanted to get revenge, so he accepted the missiles to threaten the US. Also, he was still angry about the Bay of Pigs Invasion.
