Relations between the Nicean Republic and France were still really bad and a second war almost broke out in late september 1609 . But the war was avoided for the moment . In september 25 1609 , french troops raided the Nicean city of Veedexia along with other cities that were simpatizing with the Nicean Republic . Altho he didnt defend them militarily during the raids , Emilio sent troops after the event to prevent this from happening again . In october , he annexed the cities into the republic . Tensions were higher and the fear of a second war took on the republic .
