On the coast of Newfoundland in the North Atlantic, the Titanic hit an iceberg during its maiden voyage. There were a lot of people on the boat. There were about 2240 people on the boat and 1500 lost their lives from the sinking of the Titanic. When it was first built people thought it was unsinkable, but they were wrong. But at the time they thought it was going to be a great boat that would never sink and they were going to put as many wealthy people on there and go. Thankfully some people didn’t go, like J.P Morgan. Something got delayed at her business so she had to stay. There are also way more people who could not go last minute. When it set sail it was April 10th. But then four days later it happened. At 11:30 pm the lookout saw an iceberg dead ahead. So they quickly turned but when they did the Titanic seemed to graze to the side of the berg. They thought they missed it but they didn’t know that the iceberg jagged the underwater spur.
