3h 7min, may 18, 1992 y - The Twenty-seventh Amendment to the United States Constitution is enacted.
Description:
No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect until an election of Representatives shall have intervened. It is the law that prohibits any law that increases or decreases the congresses salary from taking effect until after the elections. Their salary was always increasing and or decreasing way to much. The amendment was proposed and forgotten until later on when it was then enforced. A guy who was 19 wrote a paperfor a government class which in the paper he claimed that the amendment could still be ratified, and later on started a nationwide campaign. Eventually, it worked and it become an amendment on May 5th 1992. The congresses salary would be increased or decreased after an election is taken place, therefore giving time for the person to be removed form congress before their salary is increased, and it is unsure if this was a fair idea
