aug 6, 1945 - Atomic bombing of Hiroshima
Description:
The first bomb dropped by the U.S was on Hiroshima, Japan. The United States dropped this bomb respectively, hoping it would bring an end to World War II, which it did. The only main people involved in this event was the U.S. because it was their country's idea. It was executed by the Manhattan Project, or known as the A-bomb programme. For the first bomb (Hiroshima), 70,000 - 126,000 civilians were killed (some died later due to radiation exposure), 20,000 soldiers were killed and 12 allied prisoners of war were killed. This bomb was known as Little boy, that was an enriched uranium gun-type fission weapon. The second one was known as Fat Man, which was a plutonium implosion-type nuclear weapon. The bombings are widely believed to have played a decisive role in convincing Japan to surrender and bringing about an end to World War Two.
