Under increasing suspicion by the British, and becoming more nervous by the day, Woodhull decides to recruit Robert Townsend to take his spot as primary intelligence gatherer in New York. Townsend owned a print shop, was partial owner of a coffee shop with one James Rivington, and occasionally wrote for a loyalist newspaper. A perfect candidate for a spy. Under the codename Samuel Culper Jr. Townsend quickly became primary source of intelligence for the ring, with the other member adding pieces here and there. Interesting to note was Townsend's insistance on annonimity, with only Woodhull and the courier knowing his identity.
