Description:

A white lynch mob chased black veterans to Greenwood (a thriving black community). They started shooting everyone in the area. They looted buildings and then set them on fire. 200-300 people were killed. Thousands were injured, but many (white dominated) hospitals refused the black patients. 10,000 people became homeless. About 6,000 were placed in internment camps. The dead were buried in unmarked graves. No one was arrested. No insurance was honored. Tulsa is currently trying to decide what to do– do they dig up the mass graves?
