Passed by Congress with new immigrants in mind. It made it a crime to interfere w/ the war effort or to criticize US policy on war.
Eugene V. Debs jailed for violating these Acts- he was against the war publicly. 10 years in prison. Ran for president in prison and got 3.4% of the popular vote.
Maximum punishment = $10,000 fine and 20 years in prison
