mar 20, 1941 - Lend Lease

Description:

The US increased aid to Britain; they “lend” 50 (outdated-ish) battleships in exchange for Britain leasing their naval bases to the US. Many Americans were furious about this. Critics said “It’s the New AAA” ; “instead of killing crops, it will kill Americans” ; “it will lead to war.” FDR says “send guns, not sons,” trying to convince critics that the Act was a smart move. “If a neighbors house was on fire, you lend them a hose.” This act is essentially the end of Neutrality.
