Description:

The Berlin Wall was a 13 foot high, 96 mile long heavily guarded double wall that split the city of Berlin. It was built by the Soviet Union in order to keep inhabitants from East Germany moving to West Germany. This was because the area of Germany, the west, that was under the influence of the west, was much more prosperous and had basic necessities for its citizens. After almost 30 years of separation, the wall fell due to increasing tensions from the citizens and the beginning of the fall of the Soviet Union government.
