jun 2, 1948 - Yugoslavia

Description:

-Stalin expected communist states in eastern Europe to follow soviet policies and ideas without question
-However Yugoslavia challenged soviet domination, it had freed itself from the Nazis without the help of the red army so owed less loyalty to the USSR
-Yugoslavia was communist but more open to the west, and its leader Tito often refused to obey Stalin. This caused great tension between the two leaders
-Eventually in June 1948, Stalin expelled Yugoslavia from Cominform and the country became an independent communist country, it later received aid from the US.
